In your composition book….You will be responsible for answering all of these questions….use your Scholastic magazine  and your Storyworks to find the answers.

1.       In your opinion, what is the most newsworthy (valuable) story in your Scholastic news? Why is it important? What is it about?

2.       What is the cover story about? Summarize it. How well is the story covered in your opinion. Does it leave you asking questions? If so what?

3.       It has been said, “one picture is worth a thousand words.” What picture in your magazine applies to this statement? In other words, which picture is most expressive? Why? What is the story that goes along with the picture? Cut the picture out and attach it to your answers.

4.       Of all the book reviews in your magazine or your Storyworks, which one is most convincing? (Site which magazine you are referring to using your knowledge of bibliographical information.)

Why? If none were, why not?

5.       Find one example of an international news story. What is it about? Find an example of a national news story. What is it about? What is the difference between an international and national news story?

6.       In your opinion, what person in the news was most interesting to read about? Why? What did s/he do?

7.       Rewrite any one news story (of your choice) as a fictional/narrative/imaginary story.
